The IBM Multiprise 3000 enterprise systems are general purpose single frame solutions aimed at enterprise applications.
Processors in the Multiprise 3000 group have one or two active central processing units. In addition, these servers include powerful engines that serve as supervisory and maintenance processors and also control the internal RAID disk subsystem.
Reliable Computer Sales, LLC, is a complete source of IBM Multiprise systems, software and services. If you are looking for a Multiprise, just click here to help us prepare a price quotation. Or, you can see the details of Multiprise 3000 in our pricing section.
If you want to replace your current system, we can help you plan migration from older hardware and software installations or obtain an economical upgrade of your installed mainframe. We can help you select and install new systems software. If you elect to finance your system, software, maintenance and services, we work with you to secure the best available terms.
If you haven't considered using a Multiprise and have given serious consideration to only a z800 or other mainframe, you may be missing one of the better values in the big iron universe.
Multiprise systems support all the IBM operating environments, including IBM z/OS, IBM OS/390 with its Unix subsystem, z/VM, VM/ESA and VSE/ESA. They provide parallel and ESCON channels and can include very substantial amounts of main memory. For customers whose end users work via LAN connections, Multiprise processors can include Ethernet or Token Ring adapters, eliminating the need for external LAN servers.

Customers who plan to use a Multiprise system as the basis of legacy and extended Internet type applications will find that the extensive technical capabilities of all Multiprise systems are more than adequate for the task at hand. A Multiprise 3000 processor can support up to 15 LPARs. Each LPAR can have up to 2 gigabytes of main memory. Cryptographic coprocessor technology is available to enable a Multiprise to host secure electronic commerce applications and to support other sensitive strategic functions. And there are many other technical features that make the Multiprise 3000 an outstanding system. To download a Multiprise 3000 reference guide in PDF format, click here. You can also download the complete IBM Multiprise 3000 Redbook in PDF format (warning: this file is 1.6 MB). If you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader program, which is free, click here.
The Multiprise 3000 does not support OSA-2 adapters but has integrated LAN adapters that have unique performance characteristics. In some configurations, particularly ones with internal disk storage, the network performance of a Multiprise 3000 may not be satisfactory. In these unusual cases, we believe a prospective Multiprise 3000 user should consider using a channel-attached router for LAN support. It's probably a good idea for prospective users to read the IBM report on Multiprise 3000 LAN adapter performance.
(If a reference guide or Redbook displays in your browser window but you can't figure out how to save it on your local machine, here's what you can do: Click your browser's back button or use the Reliable navigation button on the left side of this window to return to this Multiprise page. Right click on the link to the PDF file. The save option will appear as one of the choices in the option window near your cursor.)
Every Multiprise server is built to the most stringent IBM mainframe standards. It has a number of high availability features designed with enterprise requirements in mind, including dual independent power feeds, N+1 power supplies and internal battery backup. The Multiprise series supports concurrent maintenance for internal disks and key interfaces.

Users moving to a Multiprise from an older mainframe will find that their environmental costs are significantly lower. The base power requirement of a Multiprise server is just over .5 KVA. Translated into power costs, that typically comes to less than $275 a month for 7x24 power. Even the fastest models, fully loaded with 4 gigabytes of main memory and hundreds of gigabytes of RAID disk capacity will generally contribute less than $2,400 per month to your power bill.
Reliable's customer relationship doesn't end with an installation. Quite the opposite. Supplying and installing your system is just the first step in our program of attentive, personalized attention to your requirements.
When your Multiprise is running production workloads, Reliable provides continuing support for new and existing applications. So whatever your plans, whatever your business goals, you can count on Reliable Computer and the IBM Multiprise to deliver results.
